AVRIL (Mk1 #9) Pt2

At this point we picked up a Mk4 golf which became our new daily drive. Over the next nearly 2 years not a great deal happened with our little girl. She sat in the shed getting dirty and providing a home to many spiders. It was time to get her out again with another VW show coming up.

First up was getting her on her belly again with some seriously chopped springs. Negative camber for the win!

The top one is the "before" and the bottom is the "after".

I cut the springs the lowest I could so under load the car would sit on the bump stops.

This is around the time I picked up Baby Blue and Old Whitey for parts, just some of the haul…

In amongst it was an awesome set of new rims :/

With the success of the black board paint we decided to continue this over the front of the car.
Masked out like a boss!

Loaded up and ready to show again :)

Lets skip ahead a week to show time at Day of the Volkswagen 2013 in Adelaide, South Australia.

We hung a bucket of chalk and a duster from the aerial and every time anyone walked past we invited them to draw on our car.

It proved very popular with the little kids.

I made this little sign up to try and keep the drawings “clean” and family friendly :D

My favourite photo of the day <3

It was also popular with some of the bigger kids too.

Me in my trademark sombrero :p

Here are a couple of sweet shots from local photographer Clintpix Photography.

We also had the Captain with us at this show.

Avril was unregistered at the time of this show so she got a trailer ride their and back. This is at the end of the day after most of the other dubs had left.

Back at home and the aftermath of the chalking.

Although she didn't win any prizes and there were some amazing cars at the show, Avril was still a crowd favourite.

Being unregistered and only running on two cylinders our poor little girl was destined to sit undercover for another 6 months.
