Day Of The Volkswagen 2013

This was a special show for Team floG, It was also the first time I had Captain Ratbag out of the shed since starting the build 4 years earlier.

I had quite a few people comment on how clean the engine bay was, no one noticed that there was no loom haha! It had been such a rush to get it ready for the show I ran out of time and didn't get the wiring done. The car didn't run, we took it there on a trailer and pushed it around ;)

The Mk1 line up for the day.

This was also the first time we had Avril out after painting the bonnet with blackboard paint. We supplied a bucket of chalk and this proved very popular with not only the little kids at the show but quite a few big kids as well :)

I made this little sign up to try and keep the drawings “clean” and family friendly :D

My favourite photo of the day <3

It was also popular with some of the bigger kids too.

A quick shot of me in my trademark sombrero!

Here are a couple of sweet shots from local photographer Clintpix Photography.

Avril was unregistered at the time of this show so she got a trailer ride there and back as did the Captain because, well… no wiring and it didn’t run :D

This is at the end of the day after most of the other dubs had left.

The aftermath of the chalking :)

We had a great day overall, but who doesn't enjoy a day out with a couple of hundred dubs. It was awesome to show off all the hard work I'd put into Captain Ratbag even though the car didn't run yet we still managed to win second place in the race car category.

As for Avril I was overwhelmed at the popularity of the blackboard bonnet. It was wonderful to see the smiles on all the kids faces when I invited them to draw on our car :)

The end.
